How can I enter the shops in 's-Hertogenbosch?
To enter our shops in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, you must be able to prove that you are a resident of the Netherlands outside of the age of 18+. You can come in when you can show a valid (Dutch) ID, such as a Dutch driver's license. If you don't have a Dutch ID but you do live in the Netherlands, you must be able to prove this by showing one of the following documents in addition to a valid ID: 1. a valid Dutch Health Insurance Card ('zorgpas') which is handed out by your Dutch health insurance company. The validity of the pass must be shown on the pass! 2. An extract from the Basic Registration of Persons (BRP or GBA) of the municipality you're living in. The BRP/GBA may not be older than one year! You can request a BRP/GBA at the town hall of your local municipality. This can often also be requested online. If you live in 's Hertogenbosch you can order the BRP online. 3. a recent payslip or salary specification from your Dutch employer that is no more than 3 months old.
How can I enter the shops in Tilburg?
In Tilburg, the rules for visitors to the shops in Tilburg have recently become simple again. Everyone who is eighteen years of age or older may enter the coffeeshop on presentation of his/her valid identity document. Every adult is welcome when he/she abides by our house rules of course. So in Tilburg applies: 18+ & valid identity card = access to the coffee shops.
Does an OV-card function as a valid ID as well?
No, only official government documents are accepted as proof of identity.
What are the valid official government documents which I may enter a Grass Company with?
Official government documents include: a passport, an identity card, a drivers license, a residence permit, a W-document and a privileged document. For more info see www.identiteitsdocumenten.nl.
Do I have to be 18 years or older if I only want to eat?
Yes, anyone who wants to go to one of our locations must be over 18 years and in possession of valid ID.
Can my minor child enter under my supervision if I’m going in and out to buy something?
No, anyone who wants to enter one of our shops should always be over eighteen years old, even if he/she isn’t buying or consuming cannabis.
How many grams can I buy at any time?
We operate under the AHOJGI rules and sell a maximum quantity of 5 grams per person per day. This is a summation of all cannabis products purchased together.
May I smoke tabacco inside?
No, according to Dutch law smoking tabacco inside is prohibited. However, you are allowed to use cannabis or tabacco substitutes.
What can I do if I do not feel good after smoking a joint?
Make sure that someone is with you who you feel comfortable around. Take some vitamin C and some sugar. Fresh air will also help. Remember that cannabis is a sense amplifier. So don’t worry about feeling bad, this will be gone in a short period of time.
Can I order a glass of wine with my dinner?
No our shops are completely alcohol free. So you can not drink a glass of wine or beer with your meal. But we have a huge range of non-alcoholic drinks such as mocktails, etc.
Can I take my cannabis abroad?
No, cannabis bought in the Netherlands is meant to be consumed here in your Dutch home or in the coffee shop. They are not meant to be exported to any other country, even if you only take it with you to your home there.
Is a consumption required in your shops?
A consumption is required. Cannabis products, however, do not count as consumption. If you want to sit in one of our shops you must have something to eat or drink.

Why do I need to have some form of identification with me if I want to enter?
Due to the strict enforcement rules in the field including a minimum age of 18 years, we apply a 100% identification obligation for access to our shops. This means that everyone always has to show their identity documents, even if he/she is well over the minimum age of 18 years.
What are the rules if I want to go in?
The Grass Company uses clear rules. Anyone who wants to use our services must comply. The rules can be found under the ‘About’ menu -> ‘House Rules’. The House Rules are also clearly visible at the entrance of all our shops.
Is cannabis legal in the Netherlands?
No, according to the strict letter of the law, cannabis is still illegal in the Netherlands. However, from the perspective of public health, prevention and accountability, the Dutch government decided in the seventies to allow coffee shops with a special license to sell limited amounts of cannabis to consumers. This so-called ‘tolerance’ is subjected to strict rules.
What is a coffeeshop?
The term coffeeshop is used in the Netherlands to identify companies who sell cannabis. Usually combined with a catering function, these are the only venues in the Netherlands that may offer cannabis, under strict conditions.
